Whats the best hoses I can get? And will changing these older hose do anything for the car?
One last thing, can these hose get clogged for any reason? 1992 Toyota Supra Turbo |

In my personal experience, stay away from silicone hoses, especially the parts store dress up red, blue, yellow, variety. They are so flimsy that they suck shut and clog themselves up. The OEM hard rubber ones have worked best for me, the hold the pressure and are cheap and replacable should they wear out over time. Braided steel lines for some applications may be better, primarily oil or other fluid feed and drain lines that really need the extra rigidity.

hosetechniques makes a great thick hose and so does HKS but it is very expensive. but like amontgomery said dont buy from a auto parts store they are very thin and will colapse.

Amontgomery is right when it comes to buying silicone hose from parts stores. I've read a lot of posts about people who've bought kits that turned out to be thin walled vinyl with a silicone outer coating. They cost as much as the real thing but when they warm up they collapse. Same thing goes for real silicone hoses with a thin wall.
HoseTechniques and HighTempSilicone are two very reputable vendors or quality hose. Do keep in mind that silicone can be a bit slick and doesn't seal well to porous connections/nipples. Using zip ties to clamp the hoses is a good practice. As for Amontgomery's comment about running coolant or oil through vacuum tubing.... generally a very bad idea. Neither silicone nor conventional rubber vacuum lines (excluding newer viton hoses) hold up well to oil or some of the additives in coolant. Rubber won't take the heat that silicone will and silicone won't seal as readily. Take your pick. Yes, vacuum hoses can get clogged from a number of circumstances. More often than not it's due to dust/dirt being drawn into the vacuum network via a leak (either a cracked hose or a split diaphragm in a vacuum actuator). _____________________________________________ Young enough to know everything, old enough to be wrong about all of it. Once I find a good place for stainless steel tubing (haven't really looked yet), the three vacuum hoses on my car will be replaced with it.

At the expense of the weight of steel?
Just get OEM quality black rubber lines in my opinion. 1991 Supra Turbo A340E Sport Roof equiped |

Hehe, I've already got you beat there. Don't worry I'll post picks once I get the money to buy the tubing and replace my lines.... then I'll let you know where I got it. _____________________________________________ Young enough to know everything, old enough to be wrong about all of it. Nick- I only have about three vacuum lines on my car, total, maybe one or two more...
So, I think it'd be worthwhile. CRE- Have you seen Dean Marcum's setup? It's really nice! (that's where I got the idea) |

Nope, you have any links? I'd like to see.
I've been planning on doing this for quite a while there's just always something more important sucking up my extra cash. Here's where I was probably going to order from: http://www.onlinemetals.com/merchant.cfm?pid=12919&step=4&showunits=inches _____________________________________________ Young enough to know everything, old enough to be wrong about all of it. Well yesterday at work, I decided to check the vacuum lines and some of them had bubbles on the side of it. So I got some free hoses from the service department and replaced them. Car runs just like it did before. I really didnt noticed a change but at least they're new now.

Is there a specific problem you're trying to fix?
Did you replace ALL the lines, or just those you could reach? You'd be amazed how many people think the ones they can't reach (the ones sitting RIGHT NEXT to the block) "are probably fine". _____________________________________________ Young enough to know everything, old enough to be wrong about all of it. I only changed 3 of the vacuum hoses so far. I'll try and get to the other ones if I can some other time. There isn't a problem with the car at all. I just don't want something to happen.
BTW, I haven't changed the LSD fluid at all since I got it last summer. What do u guys recommend? 1992 Toyota Supra Turbo |

I just changed mine with penzoil 80w90 for limited slip and conventional differentials.
I dont peel out, but my lsd reacts great durring powerslides. I would prefer some for LSD only gear oil though (if it exists?). I don't know if its uncompromised when it fits multiple applications =/ 1988 Supra Turbo - 5 speed - Intake - Full 3" exaust with custom turbo elbow - Monza bov - generic MBC @ 12psi |

CRE: I'll see if I can dig up a link or some pics he had posted some time ago. (my old computer fried, and I lost mostly everything.
As for LSD oil, Redline would be best. |

3 vacuum lines shaeff? Removed EGR, FPU, cruise, and what else?
About Dean Marcum's car, his site is down last time I was there. And since Drjonez isn't doing it anymore, this is the only tech site. Supramania is really good with great tech, but there is a lot of BS on there also. Which they are trying to fight off. How long have you been over here CRE? |

CRE showed up a few months back.
Yeah, we're slowly but surely making SM a very tech-based site. Soon enough (or, perhaps not soon enough)... drjonez will be putting mkiiitech back online when he gets some free time. My vacuum lines are: 1) BOV 2) FPU 3) Brake booster. 4) (very small)- Turbo to wastegate. So I guess I have 4. The motor was an import that was originally sold in Japan, thus, it has no EGR. Removed: Cruise, A/C, charcoal cannister, and pretty much any other vacuum line. |

I decided a while back that whenever some nooB posted in one of the forums that I was on that he was told something completely off the wall that I would find out where he heard it and join that site in order to help kill off some of this aforementioned BS. I'm now a registered member on: 7 Supra sites 2 after market engine management sites 13 Chevy sites and 237 Uber elite performance Honda sites. _____________________________________________ Young enough to know everything, old enough to be wrong about all of it. How much lube does the LSD need. And what size socket do I need to open it? I might not have it on hand.
