Exactly what is it and what is its purpose? Also the blow off valve install kits from drift motion that are a pipe your bov attachs to without welding. Are they worth it?

The wastegate is a bypass for exhaust gases. Bypass the exhaust side of the turbo = no boost. It's how you maintain a set level of boost without just continuously going higher and higher until something pops.
The BOV install kits can com in handy for thos who are looking to install an after market BOV but don't want to deal with drilling and welding their own pipe and flange. So, if it's worth it or not depends on YOU. _____________________________________________ Young enough to know everything, old enough to be wrong about all of it. Questions about MAFT Pro wiring? OK onto down pipes what the hell?
Ok there is one with a divorced wastegate that opens into the atmosphere http://www.bicperformance.com/images/ddp_new.jpg Then one were the wastegate comes back to the pipe http://www.bicperformance.com/images/ddp_reroute.jpg and the regular one that i can afford http://www.bicperformance.com/images/dp_new.jpg ok can you guys please tell me what the purpose of the second pipe is and why its good or not to have in the first too or to be reattached. Lastly you can buy with a flew section what is that and is it good. Please help me. |

The divorced down pipe seperates the wastegate exhaust from the turbo exhaust itself creating less turbulance and smoother/greater flow. There is a very big difference between a regular then the DDP being that the DDP is better.
The one vented sounds loud under boost like a bunch of air or exhaust leak rushing thru a small pipe. It's all business! The one that routes back into the exhaust is just as good but without the noise. It returns the exhaust back into the exhaust further down the pipe so there is still less turbulance as there would be right where the exhaust lets out at the turbo. either way you go you wont be unhappy but I would suggest getting a flex section! |

I have the DDP, and I love it.
Here's a video of my car way back, with a BIC DDP, and a STOCK N/A exhaust. (right after I swapped the car) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3oSD64y2ec |

Yeah, that's me. Several years ago. Bone stock JDM motor, BIC ddp, stock N/A catback, fidanza lightweight flywheel, and clutchmasters stage III clutch.
Slightly shimmed wastegate, running about 10psi. I went through those tires FAST. Thanks for the compliment. |
