I have heard different things about ECU's mostly about turbo's. For an N/A though you shouldnt have to worry about what year, however I would recommend not to go backwards though as with newer models comes newer technologies. You can use a newer ECU however. I Know some models have Some safety additions and then theirs TEMS as well. I'm not sure if that plays a factor but you should be able to use it regardless. Oh yeah make it sure it also fits your transmission type, thats important too. Wink

Nope. Smile 86.5-88.5 are the same ECU, using yellow plugs. 89.5-92 are gray plug, and the wiring pins are different. Wink

They are NOT interchangeable.

So long as the ECU is '90-92, yes. TEMS has nothing to do with the ECU. It has it's own computer...

It only matters if he's automatic. If he's got a manual, it doesn't matter at all. Manual cars can use automatic ECU's and wiring harnesses, but not the other way around. Wink

Well I wasnt wrong. I just didnt know about the color coded wires..lol. As long as I didnt misdirect him Shaeff, becuase I wouldnt like that. Also the Tems I wasnt sure of, it did seem like its own component and independent from the ECU, just didnt know if it communcitated to the ECU at all. But hey I learn something new everyday! Who says you cant teach an old dog new tricks?

You were wrong about the N/A ECU's. They also differ by year. Wink

In any case, you'll learn. Just keep reading! Smile
