Im trying to gauge interest in a bolt on to the stock manifold, use the stock DP, Ball bearing 700 crank HP turbo for the MKIII. I would need to extensively modify the turbine housings to accommodate the shape of the new GT wheels. In order to do so I would like to do maybe 10 at a time. This turbo would be water cooled and spool faster than any upgrade available now for the MKIII. Price however would be maybe $1700. BB turbos are a bit pricey.

Any interest?

Pricey is relative. That price is just fine. I know you all have seen what HKS gets for their GT turbo's.

Larry, I am always interested in upgrades for my car, but I find it difficult to purchase something without seeing some kind of compressor map to accompany it.

Also, my concern would also be as to where the hp is at. Im not looking to build a dyno queen, im all about the street and the area under the curve. Do you have any dyno sheets with this turbo on a 7m?

With all of that aside though, I think you are on the right track with the bolt on turbos. Ive been waiting for awhile for somebody to put the gt wheel in a housing we could use without extensive modification to our manifold/exhaust/oil setup.

I very well could be interested, I work at a shop in omaha, NE. and have installed a few turbonetics upgrades, and was just about to order one of your sp61gt. but this might be a option also, customer was looking for 500rwhp, but the water cooling and BB looks appealing, and with more hp potential, as long as spool up is not much different. car is a automatic with 3200rpm stall conv.

couple questions, estimated spool time 15-18psi?

what boost level to achieve 700hp, and would it be efficient at lower boost levels, untill further mods to support the high HP are completed?

does the factory manfold flow well enough for those numbers?

estimated availability? (if enough interest)

"This turbo would be water cooled and spool faster than any upgrade available now for the MKIII" does this include the sp61gt?

The regular SP61GT has been reported to me to make 15 psi by 3250 RPM in 4th gear. That is ridiculously low RPM!!! This new BB turbo is essentially the same turbo with a better turbine wheel and BB cartridge. It will undoubtedly spool faster (2-300 RPM) than the regular SP61 for the MKIII. The turbo has enough air flow capability to flow 700 CRANK HP. The psi you will need to run depends on the efficiency of the engine, cams, exhaust etc. You may be able to do it at 25 psi or it may take you 35 psi.... Remember that 700 crank HP is roughly high 500s RWHP.

Larry, I will DEFINATELY be interested this summer or fall, defending on my funds. I've decieded to turn my current MKiii into a track only car, that might cruise the town on nice summer days. I'm not terribly familiar with ball bearing turbos though, are they only water cooled no oil? what kind of service life to they have? I've also heard they are not rebuildable. If you get enough interest and plan on making a run of them I would really like to know when so I can try to scrape up the cash. Thanks

Sorry I didn't get fired up, but Iv'e heard most of the omaha/nebraska/midwest slams a 100 times before, And they are not really that funny. Oh and by the way I drive a SUPRA.

I also believe this thread was about turbocharger, that I'm sure several people are interested in, so let's keep it at that. thanks

not for sure here guys need actualy response from the guys at sp but from digging on sf I hear this is the turbo SP SSGT700BB : T4 turbine inlet, DBB(quick spool), about 600rwhp capable, 3"-4" inlet...~1700$
Says he can make it for t4 flange or as complete bolt on.. Overall this doesn't seem like alot more info then what we have here

Hey Larry, I have the cash and I'm looking for something a bit better for top end drag racing. I currently have the GReddy TD06sh-20G and want more HP. What kind of fuel management would you recommend to run with this badboy turbo of yours? I want to go to stand alone, but I currently have LEX/550's. I am not packing sand, I have been looking for somethin like this. Would this be comparable to the JDM TD08-29m GReddy turbo? of course yours spools faster with ball bearings, Thanks Zac

So you say your Civic has 1.6 liters, my Pepsi has 2.

Larry, now that the SP61GT seems to be a hit, would it be possible to make a high flow version of our restrictive exhaust manifold. Something that would bolt on to the SP61GT and this lattest turbo, without having to modify all the intercooler pipes and the downpipe.

What I would like is a SP61 with a 4" inlet DBB with a Boss 550 hot side. I like the hot side because of the bigger inlet from the exhaust manifold to the turbo it self and a 31mm wastegate port instead of a 25mm used on the TN unit.

if you buy one of larrys turbo kits you need to relocate your ps resivor and you need a way of dealing with out useing the afm. In other words a speed density reading or something is needed.... This is only the case if you get a kit though. with just the sp61 you could probly make a adapter for the afm (probly a lex afm if you are going to use one this means 550cc to if you would like to stay on factory ecu) and you could run a accordion hose but I would still suggest just moveing it to behind the turbo.

Mr supra he already has a manifold but its t4 style which the sp61's can be made to fit that and so can the new ones

Rcd I dunno much about the ss boss but I don't think it has a diffrent size inlet on the hotside because it is made as a bolt on just like the sp61 right?

I may have screwed up on something so don't take my word about any of this, its just to my knowledge info
