I have a 89 supra turbo. It has 3" exhaust and a cold air intake. I was thinking about upgrading to a CT26 turbo down the road. Is there anything else that I would have to upgrade besides the fuel pump?

Do you mean you want to upgrade the CT26? Because the supra comes with a CT26 stock, I hope you know.

Yes, I want to upgrade to a high flow CT26.

Ok, sorry I just needed you to clarify. You can upgrade the Turbo all day long on a Supra, but it will always stay at stock boost level. However when you get to 14PSI (according to Shaeff) you will hit fuel cut. You have several options available to you. If you want to get above that 14 limit then You should start by upgrading the fuel pump and injectors. Im not sure but I thought you could upgrade the fuel rails as well. You might want to look into gettings some electronics as well. Anything that has to do with increasing your boost and regulating your fuel be really helpful to you. I hope you have the motor upgraded to take that kind of punishment though.

FC depends on atmospheric pressure. If it's hot and muggy, the air will be heavier, and as such, you'll hit fuel cut earlier. On a very dry, hot day, you'll be able to boost a bit more, and on a cold, dry night, the air is very dense, and as such, FC will be a bit lower.
You'll usually hit FC around 12-13psi. I recommend 14psi as the max pressure to run on a STOCK ct-26. Upgraded CT's, depending on what the deal is inside, you can boost to around 20-22psi. The fuel rail is fine. For running higher boost on an upgraded turbo, you'd be best to get: walbro 255lph fuel pump replace the fuel filter, as it's just a good precaution 550cc injectors (RC's, Lucas, Denso) drill out or remove the j-tube Aeromotive adjustable fuel pressure regulator And when you start really pushing it, you need some sort of piggyback fuel management, such as the MaftPro. (also, to get past the FC limit, you'll need the aforementioned fuel management, or a Lexus V8 AFM housing) |

Hey Shaeff if all I'm trying to hit is 400hp in my supra, what would be better for me to use? The Maftpro or the Lexus AFM Housing? Oh yeah I do plan on doing the upgraded CT26. Although swapping out the turbo seems like a pain in the butt ya know, I read the installation and removal of it. Looks like it takes a bit to do it.

I recommend the MaftPro, it's much better, offers a wide variety of upgrades, and you can update it. Also, you can eliminate the AFM altogether if you use the speed/density harness.
Oh, and don't try to make 400hp on a stock ct-26. |

How much does the MaftPro go for? How does it work? No I would not dream of using my stock CT26 at all. Its old as hell and needs to be replaced. I'm going with an upgraded CT26, 56 trim I believe. By the way what does trim mean anyways? I read above about the fuel upgrades, and how do you replace the fuel filter and from who?

Knight- The MaftPro has lots of options, so it's totally dependent on what options you get. I highly suggest you go speed/density so you can remove the AFM completely.
You could probably find the kit for about $700 or so, and it's totally worth it. Look up drjonez on supramania.com for great pricing, service, and tech support. Trim is really not a good way of defining a turbo, and you're likely talking about a 57 trim anyway. As for the fuel filter, I went with an OEM Toyota piece, as I get a substantial discount at my local dealership. It's located above the differential, and you need some metric flare wrenches, and a can of PB blast to do it. It's MUCH easier if you have the gas tank out as well. (which you should to replace the fuel pump anyway |

Have you seen Maftpro.com? Is it the translator?

They were selling for about $300, does that sound right to you? By the way how does that thing work once its installed?

Maybe for just the basic MaftPro unit. *make sure you get the MaftPRO. *
It works like any other piggyback fuel controller. OR Bring it to someone who can tune it for you. |

Actually the Maftpro that I was looking at does three things. I only plan to boost to 15PSI with and upgraded CT26 after all the fuel upgrades and Maftpro has been installed, that should be safe right? I'm not trying to Work my engine too hard. I'm trying to keep the engine as long as possible. By the way how much fuel will I "sucking" down with these upgrades?

A properly tuned motor won't suck down any more fuel than a bone stock one, providing you don't floor it everywhere.

Oh I believe the Upgraded turbo I'm getting comes from Driftmotion. So lets put out the list.
Upgraded CT26 Upgraded Fuel Pump (Walbro) Upgraded Fuel Injectors (550 CC)x6 Maftpro Electronic Fuel Management system. So all of these will probably get me close to 400hp? Do you know anything about also hooking up a NOS system to the Intercooler which people have told me is called a "Fogger". If I do that I dont want a direct port. The intercooler setup just seems easier to go. Also would it be wise of me to upgrade the Intercooler and all the plumbing as well? |

Adjustable fuel pressure regulator and drill the j-tube.
Wait, are you talking about an intercooler spray, or actually putting nitrous into the motor... BIG difference... |

I believe he means spraying the intercooler. I've heard the term "fogger" before and the people i hear it from all use nos to cool their intercoolers.

Yes Digity is correct, I want to spray the intercooler. So what is this "J-tube" and where is it and what does it do? Why do I have to drill it? So I take it , that yes I should upgrade the intercooler and all the piping then?

Upgrading the IC and associated piping is always a nice thing to do. First, it'll eliminate any leaks in the old rubber/plastic hoses, and if you get 4ply silicone couplers and t-bolt clamps, you'll never have to worry about popping a connection either.
Here's a thread where I mentioned the J-tube, along with a picture of it: http://i-supra.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/312608008/m/9271048282 The IC sprayers are really nice, and make significant differences in your intake temperatures (lower), thus, allowing you to make more power. |
