so i've been slowly going over every system on this 91 turbo i just bought. needless to say it's had some problems. i've waited to check the turbo last. i don't think i should have.
so far i've found electrical contacts to be cleaned, o-rings to replace, vacuum lines to replace, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, timing reset, tps replaced, tb and icv cleaned, coolant system flushed, targa top seal repalced, and problems with the radio.
still got problems with missfire, backfire and stalling. I'm thinking boost leak. so today i finally get into the turbo and find loads of oil in the intercooler and thanks to a somewhat large boost leak, loads of oil coating the undercarriage.
I'd love to upgrade the turbo while i'm here, but due to money constraints looks like i'm just going to rebuild what i have.

+1 on that. Do you have any clue how many shitbox MK3s there are around my way. The other day I raced one that i assume was bone stock and the thing was sputtering like 3 lengths behind me. I felt bad for the kid cuz mines bone stock also.

so i rebuilt my turbo (stock obviously) and replaced the thermostat o-ring, and replaced the rest of my belts that i've been putting off. I also cleaned out the oil in the intercooler.
MAN MY RIDE SOUNDS NICE NOW.
But somehow when i changed the power steering belt i managed to make the pump non-functional. go figure. i still can't figure that one out. anyway i installed a new one and all is well.
