ok heres how it goes. i have a stock 1998 supra twin turbo which only puts out 2psi of boost. i took it to a shop and they ran a check on all the lines and found nothing. i took it to toyota and they diagnosed it sayin i had a bad ECU. spent the money on that got it installled but didnt fix the problem. took it to a performance shop and the mechanic said it had a bad EGCV. bought the part to replace it. still no boost. now the guy says it may be the wastgate is bad and wants to take everything off to find the problem for bout $700.
i noticed my intake sucks in air at idle more than it did before the loss of boost. when i push down on the gas and let off real quick i hear a weird wooshing noise like when u blow across the top of a bottle. anyone have this problem before or that can point me in the directon of a good shop in the PA,NJ, or DE area let me know. cause ive already spent about $1200 in service and parts and still i have yet to find wut isnt working. any help will be appreciated. thanks 5*~SHady 2jz~*8 |

What you could try, and you would need to be carefull, but unplugg the vaccume line to your waste gate and see if you car boosts over 2 lbs of boost. When wastegates get older or start to malfunction, they can get stuck open. By disconnecting the vaccume line to the wastegate you basically trick it into being perminently closed, and if it is your wastegate that will answer your question.
