Ive seen plenty of the 360 and 355's. Even a Testarossa here and there. But the only previous place I ever saw an F40 was a car magazine and behind ropes at the auto shows in 89 and 90.

So I am out breaking in a 4cyl camry engine and I see it in the rear view mirror. I think first, is that really i?. Well it could be a kitcar Fiero. He rolls up, it sure looks real. This is on the highway. C470 for those in Denver. I rev the 4 banger at him knowing full well how it really is. He obliges and blasts like 50 or 60 yards ahead in what I swear is like 1 or 2 seconds. Yep, its real. That bitch was crotchrocket fast. I had a big grin. What a machine. Stock they were trapping like 122 in the quarter. I was impressed. Damn to have a 2500 lb car with a twin turbo V8. I wish I had a camera with me.

In Tressel we trust.

Agreed. I saw a couple of these at a Ferrari track event at Bridgehampton before they closed it down for good.

An F40 is an impressive machine. Even more impressive when driven as it was intended by Enzo (RIP).

It's pretty sad that most of those cars (F40, F50, Mclaren F1) are not driven as they were intended. They're not made to sit in a garage. It's not a rolls or a bentley. Sure it's a collectors car, but drive the damn thing. Its made to be driven and it needs some full-throttling every now and then.

i ran into a old AC cobra. the real deal cobra. the 427 badges or w/e it is on the side. thing was LOUDER THEN LOUD. so im in the mustange so i rev on him, and flash my video camera at him, i had been out shootin my vid when i saw him =P. anyways so i flash the camera at him and he just smiles. so i look at the light and then at him. dont open the camera just point it and start recording. light turns green and he an i both hit it. thing pulled no crap 5 cars head threw 2nd. Louder then loud side pipe exhaust.

well anyways i went home, went inside to put the vid on my computer, thinkin how sweet it was. then i find out to my dismay as im watchin it I DIDNT TAKE THE DAMN CAP OFF. you can hear it but you cant see jack shit. god damit!

Yeah, it is a shame when supercars get stuck in a garage...but heard that in the Ferrari f-50, theres like a black-box in the car, and it records all sorts of data from the engine, suspension, all sorts of stuff...then when u take it in for the tune-ups, Ferrari techs download it, and i guess they arent pleased if they see it hasnt been driven hard.

Lacrosse for life!

Thats funny. Sounds like a policy enacted by good ol' Enzo himself. The McLaren has a modem hooked up to its computer so no matter where you are, you can hook it up to your cell phone, call the head office, and they can diagnose whatever is wrong with the car. I guess that makes service easier because its not everyday that a McLaren comes in for its monthly $40,000 check-up.

Man I wish I was filthy rich, but so does everybody else. I'm workin on it though.

Boost is displacement. You are forcing more air in the engine than it would take in under atmospheric pressure.

thats incredible, I would have shit myself if saw that on the road just crusin. I have seen a Ferrari on the road before, it was a 550 Maranello, just so happens we were both headin to the same place, my work, so I go up to him and ask for a ride in his car, he politely agrees and takes me down the street at 80-90 mph and comes back. Most fun I've ever had outside the bedroom.
Anyway, goes to show you, always have a camera in the glovebox.

Technology is the only substitute for cubic inches.

A lot of people don't realize that the F40 was the last model of Ferarri to be approved by Enzo Ferrari himself.
