Smile it's ok.

but seriously, the only N/A motor that came in USDM mk3's is the 7mge. you're not going to make a significant amount of power with the GE, even with copious amounts of cash.

you'd be better off swapping the motor out for a 7mgte, or buying a factory turbo mk3.

Tut Tut shaeff... let's not be so negative about our less aspirated brothers...

Truth is, if you're just trying to make a fast street racer, you could probably kick the tail off of anyone in town with about $600 on your GE.

Oh but wait you live in Hollywood....

Uhm... buy a Lambo?

If you want to spend some money, switch to the Toyota V8.

oh yeah, for sure. you can make an N/A fast, i was talking for serious power (like 400rwhp), you'd need to swap. here's a great page for upgrading your N/A supra:

I think the 7MGE is one of the best engines ever made. It is smooth and quiet, and makes good street power. Is it a Corvette beater? No, it wasn't meant to be.

*Looks around...*
Did anyone say that?
I don't see that anywhere in this thread.

Like Nick said (and I'm no expert) the GE is one of the best street engine's made. Compare it to some of the more popular engines, ie.: The B16's. Incredibly popular but altogether not that stunning. I've street raced Vtec's all up and down Richmond and none of them have a chance. And this is quite possibly the most popular swap that you see around here. I know a guy who put one in his Geo Metro.
The Duratec V6? Please...
VG30? Definitely a contender, and the closest match you'll find to our cars (at least in the Z31) but look at that thing... Smacked with the ugly wand.

I could go on but the bottom line is, our engines are stunning. But you have GOT to remember: If you want to run it like a race car, TREAT IT like a race car! Our cars are VERY dependent on oil and coolant, CHECK 'EM EVERY DAY! If you hear a sound, LISTEN TO IT! Figure out what it is and if it's dangerous FOR GOD'S SAKE KEEP IT OFF THE ROAD till it's fixed! I've seen a lot of people who's cars crap out on them simply because they don't know how to treat it right.

Didn't mean to make this an essay, but here's my conclusion: The 7M-GE is an amazing engine. Swap if you want to, but there IS power under your hood. I would recommend getting a rebuild (depending on how old your engine is), THEN see how you like your car. Chances are you'll find you like what you got.

Me? I'm going N/A all the way. Me and my buddy are going to be working on it a LOT and hopes are that by this time next year I'll be running at least 12's. Granted this is going to take probably about a million dollars, but it WILL be worth it.

The weakness is age of the engine. And that it doesn't have much displacement compared to a Mustang or Camaro.

In addition to the money spent on the engine, you need to gut the car and drop weight. The fastest GE naturally aspirated car I know of ran 13.8 on slicks.

I know right? This is if and ONLY if I get my dream job, land a million dollar lotto ticket, AND have like a bajillion hours a week. We think it's possible and are on a mission to prove it.

(A little good humor would help... So thanks a lot Jordan Roll Eyes )

Sorry bud, I think I posted back to that about the same time that YaMar was telling us he was going to power wash his Supra's engine bay Red Face yipes!! So in "good" response, I think you should plan out a bank robbery with your friends in the FBI so you don't have the feds on your ass, then, when the feds retire and you quit your day job you can all have supras and move down to mexico and purchase a titanium GE block for about 37 cents!

You sound like one of them!!! Wink

I hear those same mexicans are working on patenting a Carbon Fibre GE block! Eek

You know that scene at the end of the credits of the first Fast and the Furious? Where Dom is driving away into the Mexican sunset in a Camaro SS? Now picture that as a Supra...

I've truthfully never seen that extra bit at the end...but I can picture it to the tune of an MKIII. BTW, the Carbon Fibre block comes with an extra decal on it for MexicoRUs.com, I hear it adds like 50 hp at the wheels!
