Greddy Profec B Spec II. I recently received basic settings from Greddy for this thing and when I set it to there recommendations the car starts to hesitate and feels like detonation when I just start pulling nice and hard. I also received some settings from 3000GT (I think that's his name here) and it still does it. I was informed by Greddy to set my set_gain to .1 and 3000GT said to put it at .96 Please help

well lets start off with your mods
do you have a BCC? if not your car might be hitting fuel cut. another thing to look out for is spark plugs. what are they gapped to? mine used to rock back n forwth a little bit but i gapped them down to 29. works fine now. i really dislike this boost controller =)

Ehh Spec 2 is complicated as shit to get to work. I went through about all of the Profec's.

I've used the Profec B Spec 1, Spec 2, and the Type S.

The Spec 1 and Type-S are similar in that they use a knob to adjust boost. The Type-S can just hold more boost on top of the spring.

--------------------------

I was reading the manual several times over trying to see what they mean. The "gain" is like how you want the wastegate to act, so set it to like "10". The "set" or whatever it's called is like how much % do you want the solenoid to operate. Let's say if you set it to 100%, it'll add 30psi on top of your spring. Then if you set it to 50% it should add 15psi. So use that accordingly.

As for this "set_gain" shit, I have no idea what that is. I just left it alone and it was fine. It wouldn't hurt to do a pull, and go off to the shoulder and adjust it.

Here is what Greddy sent me through email:

Basically you have 3 main settings. The set boost which controls your main
boost, gain which adjusts boost consistency, and start boost (set gain)
which adjust your boost response.

First you will want to adjust your start boost to about 2 PSI lower than
what your desired set boost is. So if you plan to run 15 PSI for example,
you will set this to 13PSI. Or if you are running KPA, about .1 KPA should
be fine.

Next adjust your gain to about 10-20%, you do not want to go over 20%.

Last drive the car in third gear to make final adjustments. Start at a
lower number with the set boost and increase or decrease the number
according to what the motor is boosting when you test run it.

The warning and Limiter functions are explained quite plainly in the
instruction manual. Do not set these until you have finished setting up the
basic settings explained above.

The warning is set at whatever you wish. And the limiter is suggested to be
set at 99% first to run stock boost. Then work your way down to have the
boost limited just a little higher than what you set boost is boosting at.
The set boost and limiter numbers are not related so you must test run to
tune this function also.

One last thing... Make sure ALL plastic caps are removed from the solenoid
valve before operation, as the boost controller will not function correctly
with the plastic cap still in place.

Thanks for choosing GReddy Products!

As far as my BPU, I have a BCC, HKS SSQ BOV, SAFC II, Defi D-Link gauges with the controller and that's about it.

I could not hold boost. Before I could boost to 1.2 and now it starts to pop out of the exhaust around .5-.6 @ 3000 rpms

how is it installed? this http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/blitz_dsbc/index.html is the best way to install an ebc. you have also checked for leaking ic pipes or vac hoses correct? when your ebc is off what boost do you get? are you in ttc or sequential?

Well I had some time on my hands and got my car to run much better now. I simply turned off my boost controller. I need to get it setup though. Seems the prob was with the boost controller settings.
