hi my car has been acting up. since the other day i launched the car and did some pulls, the oil, brake and battery light has been on.
i've blown intercooler pipes before and i've checked for them but they all seem pretty tight. vacuum hoses seem okay... i checked the compression on the motor and it did seem to read quite low. my motor is 95,000 miles stock with T04r bolt on turbo (fuel 850cc) boosting 18 psi max for three weeks. last time we did a compression check on my car, it read 150-158 psi. now it reads 145-150 psi. when i fire it up, it idles perfectly when it stays but then it dies sometimes. if i try to gas it, it seems to choke and die too. when i am able to rev it up, there seems to be A LOT of black smoke from the exaust. i'm sort of stumped now and would appreciate if anyone can give me any feedbacks and things i can look into. thanks in advance sorry, my mods are as follows: t04r hks turbo kit aem ems (with stock sensors still) 850cc fuel system ported intake manifold two hks ssbov greddy 3 row fmic best et: 12.2 @ 118 best mph: 12.5 @ 120 |

You blew your piston rings. Time for a rebuild.

first off thanks for the quick reply, although it wasn't the answer i was hoping to get.
so is there a temporary fix to the problem where i can drive around normally for now? rebuild = what is needed? thanks best et: 12.2 @ 118 best mph: 12.5 @ 120 |

Take the car in for a leak down. That will tell you if you blew your rings. With what you described I am almost positive tho. A rebuild is just that. Tearing the motor completely apart and rebuilding it with parts that need replacing. Can cost $3000-$5000 for a rebuild. Or, you could buy a new or used shortblock. I would shy away from new tho. Word thru the grapevine is that Toyota no longer makes the 2JZ-GTE block themselves. Alot of the new blocks are roasting their bearings from what I've heard. Have the leakdown done first tho. I am by no means a certified mechanic.
