I'm new to this site, Usually I hang over in the dsm area but I was surfing our local paper for sale ads for anything good and i ran across an 87 supra turbo for 1200obo. The ad said the car needed work, i called and he said something was wrong with the timing. Not having a clue about this gen supra i asked him whether it was the distributer or the timing belt. He said the distributer. I looked on ebay to find an engine shot of a year close to an 87 and i didnt see any distributer. I saw a coil but no dist. I called on it tonight so i havn't had a chance to check out the car but it sounds like a good deal. All i know about this gen car is that it comes with 230 hp, Which in my mind is reletivly good for 87. I have about enough money to buy the car and thats it, No modding or fixing as of yet. Please any feedback would be great. Are these good cars for modding? I'm used to the talon awd and eclipse awd, if you add a boost controller, a guage, intake, exhaust and raise the boost you have a pretty quick car.

could just be the ignitor. how many miles on the car? 1200 is a good deal even if you end up replacing/upgrading the whole ingition system.

i didn't ask for the milage, what type of ignition system is it?
