THis is the first and only supra TT I ever owned it is stock turbos with 54k miles on it has Greddy parts exhaust and so forth does these cars normally feel like dogs off the line until the turbo kicks in? My Suprs feels like a 4 cylinder taking off till about 4k rpms and than it comes alive is that normal and if so is their any fix to make it livelier at the low end I can see getting your Ass beat fast with this problem??? HELP

yes they are weak when not in boost. there are some solutions but first off understand that its all about driver skill. if have an automatic powerbrake up to about 2000-2100rpm then let off the brake and floor it and you will take off much quicker. in a 6spd you can hold the clutch and rev to 4000rpm and dump it.
if you still need more help getting out of the hole in an automatic car get a high stall torque converter with a stall speed of 3200-4000rpm this will allow you to powerbrake up to a much higher rpm. in a 6spd a good clutch and a 2 step rev limiter will help out. if you still need help (which you probably wont) then the #1 boost controller mod will give you 15+psi below 4000rpm. i can disucss this mod more later if you find that practice and tranny mods dont help. |
