go to mkiv.com Then tech articles under problem solvers theres a tab for srs airbag light on or flashing. It works Also useing a mirror inside the car looking in you will be able to see when the light goes off.Go under the hood and open the diagnostic cap located on the passenger-side near the firewall (see photo). Look for AB & TC. Make two plugs with wire to fit into these connectors. With the ignition key turned to the ON position alternate the two wires to the negative terminal of the battery. They need to be done in a consistent rhythm, about one second apart. TC,AB,TC,AB,TC,AB... This needs to be done several times. If you can't get it to work, try adjusting the speed. It is helpful to have someone look at the airbag light while performing this to let you know when the light goes out/blink.

AB & TC is the way to do it. Get the pattern-timing right and it will resolve the issue.

I have an '87 with the same problem. I did NOT have it until I had the automatic transmission replaced with another used one from Japan ? what year it was.

I have replaced both wheel sensors and the one in the transmeission, the ring it he rear reads from, the spedo gear in the tailshaft and the plastic toothed spedo gear. I get a blinkey light saying the overdrive is off and the abs light comed on and the self diagnostic blinks (i think 33? times indicating a fault with the rear sensor. I have tested it and it is ok.

The wiring harness pluging into the transmission waas replaced by a new oem one. I notice the colors of the wires where it plugs in do not match the ones on the harness. Could this be the problem?

Any suggestions?

I think I have had to do this procedure now 3 times, and I hate it, although the last time I did it, I got it right the very first time!

Guess I got lucky from all the practice!
