This would be a good idea, although i agree that it is a good idea to wait until demand for it is off the scale so that it gets some good use.

Hopefully if this does come off people wont abuse it.

that would be a good idea, but I think it has to be built in to the V-bulletin or whatever forum program they use

We could do an AOL Style chat room, I just hate setting one up and no one uses it. Once this place gets hoping we'll look into doing something like that.

I wouldn't mind a chat room here. I think that would be great!

Chat is not built into UBB.x software, however, there are some third party alternatives that can share the environment and maintain security. One of these allows access for IM-ing those that are in the ONLINE access area via a seamless integration. However, these are all quite pricey in terms of start-up cost and if they chat room gets large, it sucks bandwidth as well. When we reach the level where we start charging for advertising, then we can possibly do an integrated third party chat, until then I would say IRC or AIM is the best approach.

All apologies if I am going off topic, but in a similar manner does the software allow an individual to view a particular thread w/ ALL replies? (I thought it may be a nice feature) frown
