Soft, "sticky" tires. Soft suspension. Take a mechanics class and learn about engines and cars yourself, plus learning how to do tire allignments etc. would help if you beat the hell out of your car on turns. Make sure you have money if you're going to race around on streets

Supras are NOT roadracing cars...You would be much better off buying a BMW or a camaro, both of which i have for sale Smile

I disagree supras can make excellent road race cars. Andy B. got fourth in the one lap of america his first time out.I road race my supra and it is awesome. it has run a 1.33 at the big track at willow springs no race tires 1 bar boost and on a 107 degree day.Huge potential to run quite a bit faster.

I apologise, let me specify. Mk3 supras do not make good autocross cars. They are too heavy and not very nimble but, power can overcome weight...

Gen 3s, not good autocross cars? I autocrossed my bone stock 87 MA70 automatic turbo in SoCal autocross events for 3 years and racked up numerous wins in SK1 and F Stock. It was a wonderful autocross car, sure it had lots of body roll, but it made lots of torque and had great grip. If can use some self control and control the low speed push it works just fine. Its kinda funny but I let all my friends learn to autocross in that car because it was so forgiving and easy to drive. We all kinda agreed that for all its shortcomings it really was fun to drive and did remarkably well.

If you plan on racing the car competitively, buy the rule book from whatever organization you plan on racing with. Then pick a class you can afford, and make only the allowed modifications.

If you just want a car you can take to the track and learn with, get a good set of springs and shocks, a set of sway bars, and maybe an intake and exhaust. Then spend some money on a good set of tires (maybe some wider wheels as well), and a good set of brake pads and high-quality brake fluid. Then just concentrate on improving

i'll call you on that one ryan. an mkIII, mildly stripped, with some stiffer shocks, anti sway bars, and lower springs, would definately make that car even handle better than it already does, which is pretty damn good. i took my 88 na up to the mountains the other night, and was hitting about 60-65 all through tight winding turns and hairpins, not loosing the rear end whatsoever, the rear just starts planting to the ground after 60. with a turbo, you could spool and even run better times on the track. if it's too heavy, then strip some items you don't need, i stripped my spare, the jack, stereo, speakers, rear seats, and it's running fine, with minimal body roll.for more stuff to do, go with what ma said. just decrease the weight and bring the power to weight ratio up.Good Luck man.Hoping the same for my car, i'll keep ya posted on how it goes...
