Ok, I am new to this board but have a good grasp on cars. I have owned 3 mustang 5.0's and modified them all. I was wondering what it would take to run in the 13's and what it would take to get into the 12's? Can you run 12's with a stock bottom end and the factory turbo? Thanks p.s. Is there any more active supra forums pages? Thanks

13.95 @ 106.5 in my mk3 5-speed. 13's are not to hard to get to. I have stock motor and factory non-upgraded turbo and the stock injectors. My car ran upper 14's bone stock. I added a K&N filter and some boost (14psi) with a manual boost controler and got 14.5! Then a hks downpipe and full 3" exaust and a FCD got me down to 14.25. But the real kicker was the HKS Super AFR fuel controller. It felt like I gained 75 ponies under the hood and that is what got me into the 13's. Later I plan on adding 550 injectors and the lexus afm. 12's???? on the stock turbo with no upgrade??? I just don't know but maybe someone else can help out with that because I am still chasing 13.5

You need to lose weight. Thats the easiest way. That car is damn heavy compared to say an '89 LX. You can run 500 hp fairly safely on a stock shortblock in good condition.

depending on how good the driver is.
could range from 14.7 to 16seconds. Supra Prayer ("Our father" church prayer, revised) Our Supras, who art in driveway, hallowed be thy name, thy speed has come, thy will never be done, on the road as it is on the mind, give us this day your daily beauty, and forgive us for our speeding, as we forgive those who drive slow, and lead us not into incarceration, but deliver us from the 5-0 ...amen --Kris Paczedlik 1988 Black Supra Turbo 5spd Targa |

13's are fairly easy. I've got ported turbo elbow, 3inch crush-bent exhaust from elbow to tip, cut airbox, a MBC, upgraded turbo (upgraded only because the old one was blown), and ported head (doesn't help much at this point). I suspect I'm putting down 250rwhp. But I have also gutted my car. The result? 13.75@103mph (just ran that today).
And that time is with some semi-significant problems: My automatic will not let me manually upshift, so it's shifting early and I have an occasional miss. Plus I can only run 10psi before hitting fuel cut... If I got that all squared away, and added some more track time I would expect 13.5@105. If I was running on race tires instead of these damn khumo supra 712's I would definitely be in the low 13's. Regman in Canada is running a pretty similar set-up to mine, except he has stock turbo at 8psi, race tires, and a 50-shot. I believe he put down a 12.4 just a few months ago. I RAN A 12.84@114.3 MPH STOCK jdm 7m gte, shimmied actuator,GReddy BOV, HKS SMF intake, no cats, Apex'i dunk exh, 100 hp wet shot, NOS with bottle heater, stock turbo, crappy 300 treadwear Falken tires, 5 sp tranny, Twelves can be done for cheap, just add NOS, then all the Mullet cars you blow away will say you are cheating, cause the got beat by an overweight, underpowered JAP car

I ran 13.36@103.5 with a 1.94 60' on Nitto 245/50/16's. Mods are 3" full exhaust, K&N 3" cone filter, Lexus AFM, and 12 psi. This was done in 80 deg. temp. I might squeak out 12.90's in some nice cool weather with a low 1.90/high 1.80 60'. My car is a sport roof model, heavy with the only weight reduction being no spare tire. Getting rid of the cats ofcourse dropped some weight.
93 BPU+++ SupraTT 11.53@120.98, 18 psi, pump gas GA61 with .58 A/R 11.97@118.4, 16 psi, pump gas still stock MAF, fuel, clutch |

quote: not much quote: As said earlier 500 rwhp is pretty reliable and pretty easy to get to on the stock bottum end. I've seen as high as 620 rwhp on the stock bottum. I would hope you can crack 12s with 500 rwhp. quote: This is abit harder to do. I know of 4 maybe 5 folks that have hit high twelves on the stock turbo. One of those guys hit like a ~12.3X, but he was stripped to shit and on slicks. An upgraded stocker is a whole diffrent story. You should have zero problems hitting 12s with an upgraded stocker. ---- it's my job to keep punk rock elite |

Loaded 89 T with sawblades and Yoko Y420 225/55
13.68 @ 104 72deg F, cool dry evening in San Antonio K&N FIPK, 3" Meineke custom exhaust, no baggage (spare, jack, etc.), homebuilt MBC (need a gauge, but it hits 8lb at 2200rpm), bored stock elbow (3"), MSD 6AL ignition w/ wires, NGK Coppers, RTs in the .49X range. Oh and a GReddy Full auto Turbo Timer. It's the 60 foot times that are killing me right now. ARG Can't wait for the 5pd so I can start gettin to know the handling more, but I'm scaring the crap out of Z06s at stop lights, WOOHOO. Don't be so surprised... it IS a Supra. |
