too much FF for you Razz. double clutching is like heel and toe and is for downshifting while road racing. powershifting is better for drag.

Not to rain on ur parade there Supras_own_u... I thought that a double clutch was a method of downshifting older style transmissions (such as Vin Disel's RX-7 in Fast and Furious). It is where you are in fifth gear hypothetically and you want to downshift. With new transmissions, you just downshift and the synchros just work, it wasnt that way in the older ones. You would push the clutch (1)in and downshift to fourth, but w/o letting the clutch out, you would shift back into neutral and let the clutch out and then rev your engine to redline. Then you would push the clutch back in, (2)and drop it into fourth and engage the clutch. Hence the double clutch. And yes, powershifting is best for drag yet you will add many miles to your clutch and transmission, grinding the gears everytime you do it, and expire your transmission in short order.

you dont rev it to redline...

i've driven my fair share of old vehicles. double clutching= on up or downshift, between shifts you clutch, neutral, rev a little, then into another gear.

older style trannys like back when trannys had no synchros way way back in the day, like when cars were first being built. i assure you that the rx7 (even first gens) are new enough that double clutching is not necessary.

what he said. usually dont use it on upshifts though (unless of course you have an old ass car).
