I have heard that it is possible to swap in a viper's tranny into the supra. If anyway has any info on this, please share. Thanks

Honestly, why would you even consider doing so? Just tell me why...

well i would be considering that simply because of these figures:

2sn gear-130mph

personally thoes numbers seemed appealing

Why would they be so appealing to you? Oh I forgot, you could have tons of turbo lag, a useless 5th and 6th gear because the engine would not be in its powerband to accelerate anymore against the wind...A perfect way to ruin a perfect gearbox. Dude, just raise the rev limiter on your car...much cheaper, and I think that with a 8K redline, some springs and retainers, you could achieve those speeds in your desired gears. If you wish to have stock redline and those long gears, you could always change the differential ratio. Why would you need a Viper tranny to do this!? Roll Eyes Don't forget that the Viper tranny ratios were made for an engine that has a lot of torque down low and that revs to only 6K rpm. Not really the powerband of the Supra, especially with a big single turbo car.

Thanks for the advice. What is a safe point to set red-line to in an MKIV? and how hard is it to change gear ratios?

thanks,
Mark

7200rpm with stock everything
8000rpm with upgraded valve springs and retainers along with cams. However, it is not really useful to rev that high if you are still on stock twins. The powerband already falls at the stock redline. I suggest, if you have a 6sp, to keep the stock gear ratios. The extended redline, along a single turbo, will get you back in the big part of the powerband everytime you shift at high rpms. Changing the ratios is useless IMO and beyond my knowledge.

Yes the viper gear ratios are lower than the Supras which will give you even more turbo lag.

Will soon be getting a MR2Smile
Don't get mad at my horrible spelling. I'm not the smartest person in the world in spelling.
